Flea control in Montreal and the greater area

Fleas are the most underestimated emergency in Quebec homes. A single female lays up to fifty eggs a day, and the infestation hides in your carpets far more than on your pet. Axion treats the entire home, adults, larvae and eggs, with a second visit included to break the cycle. OPDQ certified technicians, written guarantee, often within 24h, from $99.

How to tell you have fleas

An adult flea is two to three millimetres long, dark brown, flattened side to side, and it jumps up to thirty centimetres. You will rarely spot one. The surrounding signs are what matter.

Why 95 % of the infestation is invisible

This is the heart of the problem. What you see jumping is almost nothing. Eggs fall off the animal and spread everywhere it sleeps, walks and lies down. They sink deep into carpet fibres, hardwood gaps and under baseboards.

5 %Adult fleas, the only visible part
50 %Eggs dropped in carpets and floor gaps
35 %Larvae hidden deep in the fibres
10 %Cocoons, the toughest stage

The cocoon is the real issue. It resists insecticide for weeks and waits for the vibration, warmth and carbon dioxide of someone walking by before it opens. That is why an empty home can release hundreds of starving fleas at once, and why a single treatment feels like a fix right up until everything restarts ten days later.

Our four step protocol

We are not selling one pass of product. We break a biological cycle, and that takes a method and two visits. Every job comes with a written guarantee.

STEP 1Inspection and identificationWe confirm it really is fleas and not bed bugs or mites, then locate the hot spots, pet bedding, carpets, couches, baseboards, basement and attic.
STEP 2Preparation with youThorough vacuuming, textiles washed hot, floors cleared. We give you the exact checklist. Good preparation genuinely changes the outcome.
STEP 3Adulticide plus growth regulatorHealth Canada approved residual product on floors, baseboards and textiles, combined with an insect growth regulator that stops eggs and larvae from reaching adulthood.
STEP 4Second visit ten to fourteen days laterWe return to kill the fleas that emerged from their cocoons in the meantime. That visit is the difference between relief and elimination, and it is included in the price.

What you do before we arrive

These simple steps remove a large share of the eggs and larvae, and make the product far more effective. Plan for half a day.

The three situations we see most

Fleas with a pet

The cat or dog brings fleas back from a walk or a contact. We treat the home while the vet treats the animal. Doing only one of the two guarantees the fleas are back within about ten days.

Fleas without a pet

More common than people think. A former tenant had a dog, a squirrel or raccoon settled in the attic, or the fleas come from a neighbouring unit. With no animal host, they bite human legs.

Rebound after a store bought product

A bug bomb kills the adults of the moment and leaves every cocoon intact. Worse, it sometimes scatters fleas into adjoining rooms. The rebound shows up one to two weeks later.

Apartment buildings and rentals

Fleas travel between units through floors and service chases. We treat your unit, document the job in writing for the landlord, and advise on the pathways.

What flea control costs

The price depends on the square footage, the number of rooms to treat and how long the infestation has been running. It is confirmed before we start, with no surprise at the end.

Frequently asked questions about fleas

How long does it take to get rid of fleas?

Adults die within the first hours. It is normal to still see a few fleas for one to two weeks while the last cocoons open onto the residual product. The second visit, ten to fourteen days later, closes the file.

Can fleas live on a human?

They bite humans but they do not live on us, our skin lacks the hair to shelter them. They hide in fabrics and floors and come up for a meal. That is exactly why treating the home is mandatory.

I have fleas but no pet, how did that happen?

Very often through a former occupant who had a dog or cat, a squirrel or raccoon in the attic, a neighbouring unit, or simply on clothing and bags. The treatment is the same.

Do fleas die off on their own during a Quebec winter?

No. Outdoors the cold limits populations, but indoors the heating creates ideal conditions all year. An infestation in a heated home will not stop by itself.

Is the treatment safe for children and pets?

Yes, with Health Canada approved products applied where they are needed. We give you a re entry delay, usually a few hours, plus instructions for aquariums and cages.

Do I have to throw out carpets and couches?

Almost never. Thorough vacuuming plus the residual treatment is enough in the vast majority of cases. We will tell you straight if an item is genuinely beyond saving.

Do fleas transmit diseases?

The main risk is an allergic reaction to the bites and skin infections from scratching. Fleas can also pass tapeworm to pets, which is why the animal must be treated in parallel.

Do you handle emergencies in Montreal and the suburbs?

Yes, often within 24h, 7 days a week, in Montreal, Laval, the South Shore, the West Island and the north shore. Call (438) 874-1110 or message us on WhatsApp.
